The Lost Boys and Corey Feldman

Today, Monday 31st July, marks the 30 year anniversary of The Lost Boys. Its a tremendous movie and the go to vampire film for most movie buffs my age.

Originally conceived as a Goonies style kids adventure, it ended up having a darker twist when Joel Schumacher signed up as director.

So who better to have feature as part of the cast than Corey Feldman? Born in '71 he would have been about 15/16 when making The Lost Boys, but he would have already starred in 7 movies including Gremlins, The Goonies and Stand By Me. Im not sure he gets the credit he deserves. Those 3 movies were a huge part of my childhood and I still regularly watch them today.

Its a tremendous achievement to feature in some of the most loved movies from the 80s. All quite different characters too which demonstrates the talent he had. Which kid in the 80s didnt want to be like Mouth? I know I certainly did, still do.

Corey Feldman was a permanent fixture in my house as a child whether it be The Goonies, Gremlins, Stand By Me or The 'Burbs but as a child I was oblivious to the struggles he had in his personal life. It was certainly eventful and hes probably lucky to still be with us when you consider his peers at the time like River Phoenix and the other half of "The Two Coreys", Corey Haim....

A public battle with drugs which seemed to have some sort of impact on many child stars of the 80s. Drew Barrymore was another. Famously he was amancipated from his parents which basically means he divorced them. A failed marriage to his first wife Vanessa Marcil. He then went on to marry a second time, the service being co officiated by MC Hammer! He is currently married for a third time to Courtney Anne Mitchell.

Buy most famously of all is probably his friendship with Michael Jackson...... I dont want to go into details as this meant to be a light hearted blog, but it seemed to be a strange relationship.

But I prefer to think of Mr Feldman as this guy...

Or this guy....

Or this guy...

Corey played his part in 80s pop culture and certainly made an impression on me.
